Against damp bed sheets, the head settles into the quiet dark, resembling a bruised light bulb or the clumsy fist of a blind man. Eyes roll back to an indistinct whiteness. A constant pressure to rise, the chest scowls. Nightmares spiral, go beyond the usual hours, suspended at your feet. The purple night splinters the air and makes dusty ash of you. Anxiety defines your landscape by its shapes ruining bedroom walls and frantic skeletons rattle their terrifying music in the veined tunnels of your ears. Haloed black spiders crawl beneath the gritty clay of skin. Mangled. Spun. Ruined. the shadows envelop you, pulling into fire roaring below and light turns powdery Inside you, things shrivel, disintegrate only a reptilian layer remains.
