Ode to a Chocolate Sardine |
You eye the silver glitter of its scales The paper tactile on your finger ends, The way the body curves, the tail bends, The little fins like painted fingernails. Inside this fine exterior there lies Much more. sweet chocolate flesh beneath Is waiting for your lips, your tongue, your teeth To appreciate its luxury qualities. Carluccio made this for a treat – it Was not intended as an objet d’art But to be enjoyed in quite other ways. Ignore the soulful eyes that dully gaze For finally you know within your heart You cannot have your sardine and eat it. ©The contents of this page are copyright protected.
